Khalifa Port
Page Europa was entrusted with delivering the Port Special Systems for telecommunications, security, and control systems of the Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ) Project. Situated at the New Khalifa Port in Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE, this prestigious project was awarded to the Abu Dhabi Ports Company UAE in 2010 and commenced operations on September 1, 2012, in strict adherence to the planned schedule.
The KPIZ Project is comprehensive, embodying a turnkey scope of work that encompasses system design, integration, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operation. Its objective is to establish a seaport that is compliant with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) standards, complemented by onshore facilities and an industrial zone. Distinguished by its extensive reach, the project spans 118 buildings both onshore and offshore, covering all external areas such as berths, terminal areas, causeways, and parking spaces, and is outfitted with 26 different telecom, security, and control subsystems.
Page Europa has distinguished itself as the Data Center General Contractor for this initiative, successfully designing and constructing two geographically separated, redundant Data Centers. These pivotal facilities are at the heart of the project's success, underpinning its resilience and operational integrity. Each Data Center is comprehensively equipped with advanced Mechanical and Electrical systems, inclusive of robust data and power cabling infrastructures and HVAC systems, all of which conform to the highest international and local standards and regulations. This meticulous adherence to best practices for Data Center reliability not only ensures the seamless integration and performance of the 26 telecom, security, and control subsystems but also establishes a foundation for disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Through strategic foresight and engineering excellence, Page Europa has solidified the project's infrastructure, ensuring sustained operational success and security compliance.
The information collected from the 26 subsystems is integrated into a Command-and-Control suite. This advanced system presents comprehensive land and maritime situational awareness of the port, along with the status of networks and equipment, thereby ensuring operational excellence and security.
Key components and statistics of the project include:
- Optical Fiber Cables: Stretching over 320 kilometers, facilitating high-speed data transmission.
- Copper Cables: Spanning 300 kilometers, supporting various telecommunication needs.
- Closed Circuit Television (CCTV): Comprising 1000+ cameras for surveillance and security.
- Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA): Featuring 2500+ speakers for effective communication and emergency alerts.
- Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA): Including 2 base stations for secure and reliable communication.
- Local Area Network (LAN): Consisting of 200+ switches and 500+ media converters, ensuring robust network connectivity.
- Fire Alarm System: Including about 2300 smoke detectors, 800 sounders, and 750 call points for enhanced safety.
- Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN): With 450+ access points for wireless connectivity across the port.
- Super WLAN (S-WLAN): Offering over 65 access points for extended wireless coverage.
- Telephony (TPH): Comprising 600+ VoIP phones for comprehensive telecommunication capabilities.
- Vessel Traffic and Radar Systems: Featuring 2 radars and 2 towers for maritime navigation and surveillance.
